This off-grid lakeside retreat is nestled inside a sustainably managed forest. The hemlock timbers were selectively harvested from the same forest and milled nearby. Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) is a coniferous softwood that is very abundant in the area. An easily worked material while green, it hardens with age. The tongue & groove cladding is western red cedar.
